I was in the Starbucks
the other day and sat waiting for my drink, an iced hugh-y triple twist mocha with one pump and two percent half – caf smoothie at 61 degrees with two extra shots and I was staring out the front window and saw a mix of seven different fonts mixed together in the store, front window and on the building outside. Somehow it made for a beautiful mix, an eclectic loose grouping that blended to make it all work.
Take a look at this Ted: Ideas Worth Spreading by David Carson on design + discovery.
Oh, I almost forgot the relationship between the crazy mix of fonts was that each item was a number with a very small portion being text. It’s interesting how we first look at something as unorganized and still pleasing causing us to look a little deeper. Then the reveal happens and the design works. I take a picture next time I’m in this Starbucks shop, see what you think?
eVid Magazine,
It seems to me that the world is fast being over run by fonts!
